Speech Therapy Sessions
Our son Rayth (aged 4) has very little speech. We have speech therapy provided by the NHS but this is only one session every 2 months.
I am not being critical against the NHS as they do a good job with the resources available, but for Rayth's welfare and our dreams, this is not enough and has had little effect.
We want out son to be able to talk and express himself. We want him to let us know what he's thinking, even just to hear him say "I love you mum and dad". We want him to be able to talk, or at least say enough words to allow him to overcome his next hurdle in life, as he is starting mainstream school in September and it's going to be hard enough for him, due to his restricted size. How is he going to speak up for himself when becomes overpowered by peers. How is he going to shout for help when he needs it, especially if no one can see him?
The WWGF via the people who support the foundation, is giving us hope by funding additional speech therapy sessions. We cannot wait. We know our son wants to talk but he needs a little bit more help!
At least for the time being our hopes and dreams are still a reality.
