The Miss Liverpool 2008 Beauty contest organisers reaches an exciting stage for the contestants and the foundation. The Organiser Mrs Pat hughes has explained has given the 35 contestants have the task of helping the Walking with Giants Foundation. Each contestant is given £10.00 and are asked individually to turn this into as much money as they can with the total figure being donated to the Foundation. There's an added bonus for the contestant who raise the largest amount gets - she gets an automatic place in the final. Organiser and brainwave behind the idea Pat Hughes explained that the incentive will hopefully raise a lot of money for such a deserving cause! Suzanne Connerty, chairperson stated that she felt overwhelmed with what Pat has done for the Foundation! Sue explained that many of the Girls have been in touch with the foundation explaining that they want to raise as much money as possible. All at the foundation wishes all the Girls the best of luck! HMP Liverpool Prison Officer Mark Fairhurst sets personal best in the Liverpool Half Marathon and raises £400 for the Walking With Giants Foundation. Gigantic Mark Fairhurst (6ft 2in) said it was a honour to run for such a needy cause and will do it again! John Connerty the Charity Secretary wants to thank Mark for what he did. He was at the finish line cheering Mark on and explained that people like Mark unselfishly turn out in all types of weather to help promote and fund the Foundation to achieve it's aims. |

A true giant in the making, Liverpool mum Amanda Craven took 4th place in the John Smith's People Race at the Aintree Grand National event yesterday. Amanda earn the Walking with Giants Foundation £5,000.00 from the race sponsors with another £1,600.00 thrown in from selling posters, public donations and £500.00 from the car makers "FORD" here in Liverpool. Brave Amanda led the 10 strong field by 4 lengths for 7 furlongs until her horse started to tire during the last 2 furlongs. Amanda will always be remembered by the Foundation by bringing the attention of the Foundations work and the individuals we are trying to help to millions of viewers. John Connerty the Charity's Secretary stated that Amanda has done such much for the Foundation in such a small time! He said the Foundation, the children and the families affected by MOPDII will always look up to Amanda for all the right reasons! |

The foundation received good news today. We are to receive a £5,000.00 donation from a local Liverpool mum Amanda Craven from Maghull. The mother of three will race round world famous Aintree racecourse on Grand National day (5th April 2008), it was announced yesterday. |

Amanda was selected to be one of 10 amateur jockeys to take part in the John Smith’s People’s Race. Amanda, of Maghull. The event offers amateur riders the chance to ride in a nine-furlong charity flat race. Amanda, 38, has kindly nominated the "Walking With Giants Foundation" as the beneficiary for the donation, which will be presented to the Foundation sometime after the race. The Foundation has thanked Amanda personally for her generosity and hard work in securing this donation and wish her the best of luck for the race on Grand National Day. The Foundation has quoted that Amanda is another "Giant" who has help tremendously to achieve their aims! The money will be used towards helping four families travel to America in June to meet specialists and other families affected by MOPDII. We also want to thank the sponsor's of the race John Smith's for allowing us to be nominated because we were not a registered charity at the time Amanda nominated us. The Foundation received news today that they have become a registered Charity from the Charity Commission here in England and Wales. The news was greeted with excitement by the trustees and gives them a wealth of opportunities to fundraise and raise much needed funds to achieve their aims and objectives. |

The Foundation received news today that they will become the official charity for the Miss Liverpool 2008 beauty contest. The finals will be held in May 2008, with auditions being held on the 1st and 8th of March. Mrs Pat Hughes, the organiser has said that she cannot think of a more deserving cause. Money will be donated from the contestants entrance fee along with other events that are arranged throughout the different stages of the contest leading to the final. Mrs Hughes decided to support the Foundation further after meeting Alex Connerty a 3 year child affected by the condition whilst making a long-term pledge to the foundation via her; and her sons Halifax Estate Agents Businesses. John Connerty, the co- founder of the Charity explained that Pat's generosity and support is once again greatly received by the Foundation. Once she met our son, Alex in person, she realised that individuals affected by MOPDII ,deserve as much help as possible to help them reach their full potential in life. This gesture is totally special and kindhearted especially as she knows that Alex would not be benefiting from the Foundation. |

The Foundation gains it first major corporate sponsor. Mrs Pat & Ian Hughes (Mother & Son) Directors of Halifax Estate agents in Maghull and Waterloo - Merseyside, have pledge £100.00 from the sale of every house over the next 12 months. |

The Foundation's Chairperson, Suzanne Connerty has expressed a gratitude of thanks to Pat and Ian Hughes in person for their generosity and support. It's people like Pat and Ian that will allow individuals affected by MOPDII to not just walk with giants but stand should to shoulder with them as equals. Pat, Ian and all the people who sell and buy houses from their estates agents are truly giants who will allow individuals affected by MOPDII to walk tall and reach their potential in life. The Foundation are grateful for this gesture as they will be able to help individuals in the long term. |
